Social Entrepreneurship Against Discrimination (SENAD) Agreement No: 2020-2-CY02-KA105-001841
Summary of SENAD
By implementing the project we aim to improve the quality of youth work in participating countries and EU in general. We aim to offer the knowledge, experinces and tools to Youth Workers to improve their professional performance when working with or for our youth. We collected a set of activities, we design our activities when that needed and prepared extracuriculumn activities to achieve our goal, to make an impact on participants' life which will improve their professional way of approaching discrimination. This will be achieved by:
a) Assigning micro research assignments to participants and giving them the opportunity to exchange knowledge between themselves. Learning about something by doing your own research is a very effective way to understand it and be able to elaborate the subject with the rest of the team. It also has the advantage that participants will have more chances to keep the information in their long term memory and recall it when needed in their social, personal and professional life. Moreover is a good way to build some common fundumental knowledge to work on during the mobility.
b) Non-formal activities. The activities we chose include role playing, debates, story telling etc. Those types of activities aim to help participants put themselves in other peoples' shoes, increasing their empathic intelligence. This will help them in their future career with young people, as they will be able to understand better their feelings of inequality/ discrimination/ adverse treatment etc.
c) In-formal activities. Those activities are designed to help participants to observe concentrated and in detail forms of discrimination in real life by implementing study visit to places where young refugees are hosted and in a place where refugees are working. They will have the chance to talk with them, ask them about how they feel, which are their expectations and hopes.
d) Problem solving activities. This category of activities will help youth workers to think outside the box and come up with ideas and solutions to discrimination issues. This will help them to be more creative during the implementation of the project but also later, in their social, personal and professional life.
d) Further work. We will encourage participants to come up with their own projects, regional or national, on discrimination issues that piqued their interest the most. As described in other sections of the application, partner organizations are ready to provide the participants the resources needed to implement the project and enhance their activities regarding discrimination. Partner organizations will help each and every participant who would like to continue further with another project and/or activity, regardless how small or big.
As mentioned earlier, our project emphasizes on two major social issues; discrimination and social entrepreneurship. The project consists of an effort to achieve the below objectives:
1. Create cultural awareness among participants (by exhange of information, participation in cultural nights, offer traditional food and drinks, teach simple traditional dances/songs etc)
2. Raise awareness about the existence of discrimination and the possible personal and professional implications that may affect an individual, how they can deal with it in their daily life, especially when working with young people
3. Provide the relevant knowledge and involve participants in activities that will enable them to criticize and attempt to eliminate any form of discrimination.
4. Introduce and promote the concept of Social Entrepreneurship. Give them the opportunity to think outside the box, enchance their creativity and collaborate to bring solutions to discriminatino issues.
5. Examine ways of how Social Entrepreneurship can contribute into dealing with discrimination in either personal or professional level.
6. Help diminish unemployment in the participant countries by introducing activities related to Social Entrepreneurship. Give them experiences, skill and knowledge that will help them in their curent and future professional career.
By implementing the project, we aim to give the abovementioned experiences, knowldge and skill to at least the 32 participants, inform at least 400 EU citizens about discrimination and how they can identify it in their daily life. The most important goal of the project, is to improve the Youth Work in European level, by training youth workers on how to deal with it in their daily work with young people.
